The Issue

Maintaining routine healthcare is particularly critical for trauma survivors. Those who have experienced trauma may be at an increased risk of developing various mental and physical health ailments, including:

-
Heart disease
-
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
-
Fractures
-
Liver disease
-
Major depression
-
Substance use disorders
-
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
-
Sexually transmitted infections
-
Eating disorders
-
Autoimmune diseases
Trauma-informed care offers a secure physical, emotional, and mental environment to receive healthcare and to promote better health outcomes. Feeling safer encourages individuals to seek medical assistance, aiding in preventing symptom exacerbation.

Building a Network of Support
Locating a healthcare provider who practices trauma-informed care currently requires conducting intensive research - checking the websites of providers, clinics, and hospitals for terms such as "trauma-informed care" or "patient-centered trauma care" or calling offices directly.
We're building a database and application of potential providers to reduce that need and anxiety.
